CLC Ottawa has taught thousands of students to communicate effectively, to one person or a thousand. We will build your confidence as you practice every new skill in class, with friendly personal coaching.
We are excited to have resumed in-person courses, starting with CLC1.
In addition we continue to offer our shorter Online Speaking Essentials course which teaches effective public speaking skills that apply both in person and using online systems such as Zoom.

More About Our Courses
Tax-deductible tuition for every CLC Ottawa course is $350 for adults or $300 with a student card. We are able to keep your cost far below a comparable commercial course because we are a non-profit registered charity which keeps overhead low. Everyone from instructors to the national president is a volunteer.
Online Speaking Essentials (OSE)
This small-group workshop covers online skills and core public speaking skills in four teaching sessions and a graduation celebration (required to graduate). It’s fast-paced fun. Every student practices every skill in class, with personal coaching.
You’ll learn to:

- Quickly organize a talk of any duration
- Deliver a planned or impromptu talk
- Introduce and thank a speaker

Introduction to Public Speaking (CLC1)
Our flagship course lays the foundation for effective public speaking. The relaxed pace (9 or 11 weeks) gives you plenty of time and practice to overcome any nervousness. Our team teaching technique helps the class of at most 25 students discover a variety of personal speaking styles. Classes are one evening a week, 6:30 to 9:30 pm.
After completing the course you will be able to:
- Quickly organize a talk of any duration
- Deliver a planned or impromptu talk
- Use special memory techniques to give a talk without notes.
- Introduce a speaker.
- Present an award.
- Foster your leadership potential

Advanced Presentations (APC) [on hold]
Build on the foundation you learned in CLC1 or one of our short courses. Need to present with PowerPoint? Handle audience questions? No problem! This course is 6 weeks of in-class instruction, one evening (6:00 to 8:30 pm) each week. As with all our courses, every student practices every skill in class, with personal coaching.
Upon completion, you will have personal experience with:
- Presenting smoothly with a microphone
- Developing and presenting engaging presentations with visual aids
- Interviews, from both sides of the table
- Fielding questions from your audience
